Pastel Integration

The Staffroom Finance module includes file based exports that can be used to transfer information to the Pastel Finance system. Staffroom can export customer (debtor) information and invoice information which can be imported into Pastel.

Pastel is a widely used finance system that is usually installed on one computer at a school. Pastel is based on older technology which does not allow for easy integration with systems like Staffroom. It is not possible to create a modern automatic integration and manual file based integration is necessary.

Pastel File Exports

Two types of export files can be created in the Staffroom Finance module:

• Pastel Customer Export – accounts that have been automatically created in the Finance module can be exported for use in Pastel.
• Pastel Invoice Export – invoice batches can be created for fees and other charges and exported for use in Pastel.

Pastel Export Improvements

The newer Pastel Export features in the Staffroom Finance module include new additional features that improve on the older Staffroom Infobase Pastel Export features, including:

• Automated creation of account numbers and account details (in the Staffroom Finance Module)
• Multiple account holders per family
• Accounts for students and/or parents
• Invoice batch creation for grades, classes and other

Deprecation of Older Pastel Export Features

NB: It is intended that the new Pastel Export features will replace the older Pastel export features in the Staffroom Infobase. The new Pastel Export features in the Staffroom Finance module offer some additional benefits over the older features. It is recommended that all schools transition to use the new Finance Module Pastel Export features as soon as they are able.
